About Our Senior pastor
Servant Leader
Pastor Teja Smith received her license to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ on March 18, 2007, at the First Baptist Church of Oakeola in Glenolden, Pennsylvania, under Pastor W. Lonnie Herndon. Since answering her call to ministry, she has served faithfully in many roles, including Sunday School instructor, Bible Study teacher, Evangelism Ministry Leader, and Superintendent over Missionary Circle Groups. Her theological training includes Ministers’ Training at Compassion Ministries (2008–2012), continuing education at Gratz College, and studies in Biblical and Theological Studies at Eastern University’s Palmer Theological Seminary. A passionate student of Scripture, she has served as Professor of Biblical Studies at Transfiguration Theological Seminary since 2017, preparing future pastors, ministers, and lay leaders.
Pastor Smith is also a graduate of Temple University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1999, and taught in the Philadelphia School District from 2005 to 2021 before transitioning to full-time ministry. A devoted mother of four, she is a mentor, counselor, and life coach, as well as a YouTube influencer with over 10,000 subscribers on her platform, Living Water with Teja Smith. Her daily devotional series, Jump Start with Jesus, and insightful Bible commentaries continue to inspire and equip believers around the world.
